Our names are Heather and Alice, and we are Girl Scouts. We met in elementary school and now are in ninth grade. We have then grown through our experiences together with our troop. We are passionate about helping our communities and we hope to make a changes in the world for the better.
Our mission is to spread awareness about the challenges that monarch butterflies are facing and to inspire others in our community to take action to save these beautiful creatures from going extinct.
We visited Kelly's Monarch Mansion in Brea, California and were inspired by her concern for monarch butterflies and her efforts to help them. When we discovered that monarch butterflies were declining in numbers, we knew we wanted to learn more about this pressing dilemma and help the butterflies. Monarch butterflies present such beauty in our world, and we hope they can live long enough for more generations to enjoy. Not many people know that monarch butterflies are declining in numbers, so we want to educate others in our community to gain awareness on this issue. Our goal for our Girl Scout Silver Award project is for you to understand the importance of monarch butterflies in our world and to learn what you can do to help save them.
